New Seven Wounders of the World: Taj Mahal

TAJ MAHAL

Taj Mahal is considered the eight wonder of the world from the beginning of its creation. According to the western writers no building can surpass the beauty of the great Taj Mahal. In the ruling days of Mughal Kind Shahjahan a book was written about the history called “Badshah Nama” says that the reason for making the Taj Mahal is to acknowledge the mightiness of God.
Nobile prize winner Bangladesh poet Tagor said about Taj Mahal “A shiny tear freezed on the cheek of time”.
Taj Mahal holds a unique position in all the Mughal buildings ever made. It is entirely made of white Sang-e-Mar Mar. Its absolute beauty can not be described in words in time of rising sun and in the sunset. In full moon light its majestic beauty is breath taking. In the fogy weather at the time of early morning it is seen as floating in clouds as seen from the river Jamna. It is not a building but a poem written from white Sang Mar Mar or is a dream of sculptress.
In Agrah city of India the great King Shahjahan made this Taj Mahal in the love of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Taj Mahal is a shrine and in its basement is the grave of queen Mumtaz Mahal. After some time when the king died his grave also made near his wife. The real name of Mumtaz Mahal was Arjmand Banoo. According to the Mughal rules the important women in the royal family were given new name after the wedding or any important event and usually they were called with that name. The actual name of the king Shahjahan himself was Shahabudin Muhammad and before 1628 when he was not king, he was called Prince Khuram.
Taj Mahal was made in 20 years and 20 thousand workers joined forces to make it possible. When it was complete in 1648 it was cost more then twenty billions. Keep this in mind that at that time one gram of Gold was worth about half dollar!
According to a theory the real name of this place was Rozae Mahal. But in Hindi language Persian word “Rozae” was hard to pronounce and the word “Mumtaz Mahal” was pronounced as “Mumtaj Mahal”. So in the pace of time it changed into Taj Mahal. The map of this people was made by many people but the most important one is called Essa Khan he was the great architect of his time he belonged from Iran. Others that contributed in the blueprints are: Abdul Kareem, Makramat Khan and Ahmed Khan Lahori. Quranic verses were written by Amanat Khan Seerazi and Sang Tarashi was done by Charan Lal. In building work professionals from Kunoj, Dehli, Lahore and Multan took part. For some special tasks professionals from Bagdad, Sheeraz and Bukhara were also invited.
If other buildings are included in the main building of the shrine it is called “Chahar Bag” building technique. Mughals made all their important shrines in this style because it is supposed to be the exact location copy of parks in Haven. It is total of 300x 300 meters in size. The walk paths are made a little higher from ground in the park and they divide four parks in more four parks and so they make sixteen portions for plantation. In front of shrine and entering way a lake is made in the middle in which whole reflecting image of the shrine can be seen on the water. In other parks trees and fountains can be seen.
Taj Mahal is made on high squire ground that is 186 feet long in height and width. This is probably to protect it from the high tide times in the river Jamna. Near the Shrine there are two buildings made of red stone one is the mosque and other is guest house, this guest house is now used as museum. Size of domb is 58 feet and it is 213 feet high from the ground. The top of the domb was made of gold but it was replaced with bronze in the 1800. The moon facing both sides to the sky is supposed to be the basic sign of Islam.
All the four gorgeous towers of Taj Mahal are equal height of 162.4 feet. In whole shrine verses are written using the valuable stone “Sang-e-Sulaimani”. On the outer part of the door Quran verses and flowers are made that makes the beauty of this building more shine.
